New skyscraper in New York seeks to attract billionaire buyers
A tower in a condominium next to Central Park in New York will be the tallest residential building in the world when it opens next year, but will compete with other super-luxury buildings that seek to attract multi-million dollar buyers.
The president of Extell Development Co., Gary Barnett, said the 472-meter-high Central Park Tower built at a cost of 3 billion dollars enters a market with "excess supply " Extell and its partners will have to be “flexible” when selling the apartments, he added.
Barnett spoke at a ceremony Tuesday to celebrate that the building reached its full height.
The apartments offered on the tower's website range from $ 6.9 million for one of two bedrooms on the 33rd floor and 63 million for one of five bedrooms on the 112th floor.
